Cocktail d'hydratation hivernal

Winter Hydration Cocktail

By Chantal Vaillancourt

Now that our winter is well and truly here, with its beautiful white coat, comes its inconveniences. The biting cold, the heating going wild, the dry air and the temperature variations put a strain on our body and our skin. It is therefore essential to understand the role of hydration during this winter period, as well as its benefits both inside and outside our body.

Hydration by water

Since the human body is composed of 60% water, here is a good reason to drink water. It helps all our biological functions: digestion, blood circulation, regulation of body temperature, elimination of toxins, etc. In winter, many of us are less likely to drink water, we do not feel thirsty as we do in summer. However, our body becomes dehydrated just as much, due to the heating of our homes, the colder and drier air. This is why experts suggest drinking 1.5 to 2 liters of water per day. Of course, we can alternate our water with hot drinks such as herbal teas, broths, soups for example, but be careful not to abuse coffee and alcohol (even if it is good for morale!) it could contribute to our dehydration. So, let your imagination run wild and go have a small glass of water. Cheers!

Winter Skin Care

Dry air from heating and cold weather can damage skin barriers, causing significant moisture loss. This can result in rough, chapped, and even irritated skin. To combat this dehydrated skin, a good beauty care routine is essential. And to do this, here are our key ingredients for maximum hydration.

Jojoba oil helps keep the skin hydrated and revitalized. It is an oil that slows down water loss and promotes the production of elastin and collagen.

Grapeseed oil is perfect for promoting healing. It relieves skin irritations, eczema, dry skin and cracks.

Calendula soothes and protects your skin from external and internal aggressions. It promotes the regeneration of skin cells to fight against free radicals and slow down aging.

Mango butter , on the other hand, helps to retain skin moisture, giving it a satiny appearance. It protects by restoring the skin's lipid barrier.

In addition to external hydration, skin cleansing should not be neglected; however, in winter it is advisable to use gentle, non-drying products, such as our Cleansing and Makeup Removing Balm .

Now that we have taken good care of the skin on our face, we must not neglect the care of our lips, hands and feet, which are parts of our body that are very sensitive to drying out. A gentle scrub from time to time and regular application of Universal Repairing and Nourishing Oil-Based Balm will be essential steps to keep your skin healthy.

A good sunscreen like our Foundation (SPF 30) is also important. Even if the sun seems less present, 80% of the sun's rays are reflected on the white snow. Your skin is therefore exposed not only to the rays coming from the sky, but also to those reflected by the ground. This is also true on cloudy days since a large part of the UV rays pass through the clouds.

Protecting your skin also means wearing suitable clothing such as scarves, gloves and mittens to cover sensitive areas of our body.

Water, beauty routine and skin protection, that’s a whole winter cocktail!

Hydration in winter is a key element to preserve the integrity of your body and skin. By taking care to hydrate yourself sufficiently from the inside and by adopting a routine adapted to the season, you can prevent dehydration and thus maintain soft, supple and protected skin. So, pamper yourself, hydrate yourself and enjoy the winter! Cheers! 🥂
